School of learning, dancing, singing and entertainment
At the end of 1960, the Ivo Lola Ribar school was built in Vukovar. Martin Belec was appointed as its first principal. Today, the primary school has 562 students. The primary school also has two branch schools in Bogdanovci and the suburban settlement of Lužac. Teaching takes place in two shifts, for students studying in the Croatian language and Latin script, as well as for students who attend classes in the Serbian language and Cyrillic script. The school employs 15 primary school teachers, 30 subject teachers, and 13 professors who teach in the school's music departments. The school's professional services consist of a pedagogue, a psychologist, and a school librarian. The music departments of the Dragutin Tadijanović primary school continue a long tradition of musical activity in the city. The school also has a contemporary dance department.
The school is proud of the name it bears. Dragutin Tadijanović visited the school in 2005 and accepted the school's proposal to rename the school and gave his consent.
Dragutin Tadijanović was a Croatian poet, director of the Institute of Literature of JAZU, president of the Croatian Writers' Association, nominated for the Nobel Prize, and an honorary citizen of the city of Zagreb.
