School ahead of its time
The elementary school started its work on May 6th, 1938, due to the need for a school in Borovo settlement, as many workers were moving into the area. In 1955, the school was named after the prominent writer Ivan Goran Kovačić. Throughout its history, the school has received numerous awards and recognition for its work, as it has always been ahead of its time. On November 5th, 2007, the school was officially opened, and it changed its name from "Peta" elementary school to "Siniša Glavašević" elementary school. The new school building provides a better learning environment, as each subject has its own appropriate space or classroom. The vision of the Siniša Glavašević elementary school is to improve the level and quality of general knowledge of future generations in Croatia, in order to provide students with a solid and reliable foundation for independent learning and critical thinking, and to continue their education through formal and non-formal systems based on lifelong learning principles.
