Zgrada gradske uprave

The modern building in the old town center

The city of Vukovar is a city with a rich history, cultural and natural heritage, and traditions, recognizable for the Vučedol dove, the water tower, and baroque architecture. It is important to emphasize that the Vukovar port is the largest river port in Croatia, making it an important import and export station. Vukovar is connected to Budapest and Vienna upstream and all the way down to Romania via the Danube river.

The building of the city administration, like all other buildings, was destroyed during the war. Its reconstruction and renovation show that it is possible to integrate modern-looking buildings into the old city center.

All the rich history of the city of Vukovar is exhibited in its numerous museums:

  • Gradski muzej Vukovar
  • Zbirka Bauer
  • Muzej Vučedolske kulture
  • Spomen-muzej Lavoslava Ružičke
  • Franjevački muzej Vukovar
